Yugaraj Harikrishnan

Yugaraj Harikrishnan brings over 17 years of dynamic experience in the film industry to his role as Head of the Department of Art and Design and Coordinator of Film Making at the School of Design, Media and Creative Arts, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). A storyteller at heart and a technician by craft, he has built a career spanning cinematography, film production, and photography, working across formats and genres while continuing to take on active industry projects even today.

Yugaraj holds a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication and a Master’s in Journalism and Mass Communication. He also trained in Filmmaking with a specialisation in Cinematography at the L V Prasad Film & Media College, Chennai, as part of its very first batch of cinematography students. He is currently pursuing his PhD, reflecting his continued dedication to deepening both the theoretical and practical dimensions of his field.

With over 6 years of teaching experience at JAIN University, Yugaraj has mentored countless students in the art of visual storytelling, guiding them through the technical and creative nuances of cinematography and film production. He is currently conducting research for publication, further contributing to the academic discourse in visual media and film studies.
