A Naveen Kumar

Naveen Kumar A is the Head of the Department of Design at the School of Design, Media and Creative Arts (SoDMCA), Jain (Deemed-to-be University), Bengaluru, bringing over 16 years of higher education leadership and expertise in curriculum architecture, outcome-based education (OBE), and National Education Policy (NEP) integration.

As a Ph.D. researcher, his scholarly work focuses on developing instructional design models that synthesize adult learning principles (andragogy), OBE metrics, and environmental sustainability across design disciplines. His peer-reviewed research on sustainable material choices, ecological sensitivity in design foundation, and sustainability-driven pedagogy has been widely published and presented at premier institutions, including IIT Delhi (published in Springer), IIT Hyderabad (ICoRD ’25), IIT Roorkee in collaboration with Queen’s University, and others.

Combining academic governance with active creative practice, he is a recipient of the prestigious Junior Research Fellowship in Visual Arts from the Ministry of Culture (Govt. of India) and has established key academic infrastructure, including a Centre of Excellence in Additive Manufacturing, dedicated to advancing research-driven, ethically conscious, and industry-aligned design education.
