Sunil Mulagund

Assistant Professor, Visual Arts

Sunil Mulagund is an Indian visual artist, educator, and watercolor specialist renowned for his evocative paintings of heritage architecture and landscapes. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and a Master of Visual Arts (MVA) and was awarded the Gold Medal for outstanding academic excellence during his master’s program. With over 12 years of professional experience, he has worked across diverse creative industries, gaining extensive expertise in visual design, illustration, painting, and creative practice.

Inspired by India’s rich architectural heritage, historic temples, and natural landscapes, Sunil’s artistic practice combines academic realism with the expressive qualities of watercolor. Through careful observation, transparent washes, and a sensitive treatment of light and atmosphere, he creates paintings that celebrate the beauty, history, and cultural memory embedded within architectural spaces.

Alongside his professional artistic practice, Sunil Mulagund serves as an Assistant Professor at the School of Design, Media and Creative Arts, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Bengaluru, where he mentors emerging artists and designers through observation-based learning, traditional painting techniques, and contemporary creative methodologies. His teaching philosophy emphasizes technical excellence, artistic sensitivity, and the importance of preserving India’s visual and cultural heritage.
