Soumita Ganguly

Soumita Ganguly is a multidisciplinary designer, academician, and curious learner specializing in handmaking, passionate about transforming ideas into thoughtfully crafted design solutions that bridge concept, craftsmanship, and contemporary relevance. She has over five years of academic experience in Fashion Design, Social Design, Sustainability, and UX Design, along with approximately two years of industry experience in Fashion Design and UX Research. She holds a Bachelor of Design in Fashion Design from NIFT Shillong and a Master of Design in Social Design from NIFT Kannur.

Before joining JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), she served as an Assistant Professor at Mody University of Science & Technology, and as Assistant Professor and Course Coordinator at Indus Design School, Indus University. She also worked as a UX faculty member with ImaginXP in association with DIT University, contributing to institutions including Chitkara University, Srinivas University, Kalinga University, and Vels University as visiting faculty and external juror.

She has collaborated on industry and government UX Design and Design Thinking projects with organizations such as the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, HP Inc., and Cognizant, and has worked as a Fashion Designer with Fernweh & Yatta, Akya Berlin, and Creating Futures. Her academic interests focus on sustainable fashion, design research, craft studies, design thinking, and interdisciplinary design education.
