Assistant Professor-II, Architecture & Urban Design
Parichita Mohapatra is an Architect, Urban Designer, Researcher, and Academician with over 17 years of experience spanning professional practice, academia, and doctoral research. She holds a B.Arch., an M.Arch. in Urban Design, and a PG Certification in UX & HCI from IIT Guwahati, and is currently completing her Ph.D. in Design at the Department of Design, IIT Guwahati, with research centred on visual design, city branding, and intangible cultural heritage.
Alongside her academic career, she maintains an active professional practice in architecture and interior design while serving as Assistant Professor-II at SoDMCA, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). Her scholarly contributions span research, publications, academic writing, and design pedagogy, including publications on sustainable urbanism, co-authoring a textbook on Innovation & Design Thinking, advancing her expertise in design methodology through the DRM Gurukooll Workshop (2nd Indian Summer School of Design) at IIT Guwahati (2024), and leading the international workshop, Place-Making: Co-Designing Cities through Culture and Craft, at ICDHS 14, IIT Delhi (2025).
Her academic and industry standing is further reflected in her roles as an eminent juror across core academic panels, supporting academic forums, design exhibitions, and architectural journalism platforms. Beyond research and practice, she has guided students through internship and thesis projects and mentored student teams whose work has earned national recognition, including project presentations at Aarohan, IIT Delhi (2026) and top award at the IDC School of Design, IIT Bombay SDGs Challenge (2024). These accomplishments represent a few highlights among her broader contributions to design education, research, and professional practice.
