Kabita Manjari Tanty

Assistant Professor, Art History & Aesthetics

Kabita Manjari Tanty is an art historian, researcher, curator, and art writer whose work explores the rich intersections of Indian art, cultural heritage, aesthetics, and contemporary visual culture. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Art History and Aesthetics from B.K. College of Art and Craft, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, and her Master’s degree in Art History and Aesthetics from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda.

Currently, she is pursuing her Ph.D. at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Bengaluru, where her research focuses on Indian Temple Architecture and Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), examining the relationship between sacred architecture, aesthetics, cultural memory, and interdisciplinary learning. She is also pursuing a Diploma in Sanskrit and Pali from Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Varanasi, to deepen her engagement with classical Indian texts and indigenous knowledge traditions.

Kabita has curated numerous exhibitions featuring emerging and established artists, and has authored several scholarly research papers, critical essays, catalogue texts, and articles published in journals, magazines, and exhibition catalogues.

Research interests: Indian temple architecture, Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), art history, aesthetics, visual culture, heritage studies, neuroaesthetics, and curatorial practice.
